Paul has been ranked in both Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500 as a leading individual within Sport for a number of years.
Paul is the Managing Director of Fletcher Sports Law and has over 20 years experience of providing tailored legal advice to his clients. Paul is particularly well-renowned within the sports industry for advising UK based and foreign agents / intermediaries, clubs and brands, as well as some of the most high profile players in world football, on a whole host of issues ranging from playing contracts and transfers to representation agreements and disputes, to name but a few.
Beyond football, Paul is regularly instructed by clients from other sports such as Rugby Union, Rugby League, Cricket, Snooker, Darts, Boxing and Golf to advise on a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters.
In addition to his established sports practice, Paul is frequently instructed by clients to advise on strictly commercial matters and corporate transactions including share purchase agreements, joint venture agreements and service agreements
Tom advises high profile influencers, celebrities, agents and athletes on a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters.
Within Media & Entertainment, Tom advises talent (and their management) in relation to their commercial and endorsement agreements, ambassador agreements, TV deals and PAs; as well as being regularly instructed in relation to a number of high-profile disputes with newspapers, brands and former agents / managers.
Within Sport, Tom's highlights include:
- acting for a number of professional boxers in relation to promotional, bout and management agreements;
- acting for a number of football agents / intermediaries to successfully recover unpaid fees;
- acting for players and their agents / intermediaries in relation to transfer arrangements and advising on the associated documentation;
- acting for several international rugby players (including a World Cup winner) in relation to salary disputes with their domestic clubs;
- advising on settlement / compromise agreements for players and managers in both football and rugby.
Tom has been named as a Rising Star within the Sports Law sector by Legal500.
Ellie works as a Paralegal at Fletcher Sports Law. She assists the senior members of the team with a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters and has gained experience as a paralegal in various different sectors.
After completing her undergraduate degree in 2020, Ellie then went on to achieve a distinction in a Master of Law Course at the University of Law and will begin the LPC in September.
In addition, after living in the Madrid for 18 months, Ellie is fluent in Spanish.
James works as a Paralegal at Fletcher Sports Law. He assists the senior members of the team with a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters.
James is currently studying the LPC LLM in Manchester, whilst working as a paralegal part time, after graduating from Durham in the Summer. James will start his training contract at Fletcher Sports Law in October.
